There are many ways of going forward, but only one way of standing still. Franklin D. Roosevelt

What a good week it has been, busy, but good. My father-in-law came down and helped my husband put the new trim in our house. I told Mr. S. that if he wanted to have people over for new year's eve that the trim had to be done. I just didn't want people to come into an incomplete house. Right now it is bad enough that there is no carpet on our stairs, but at least the trim is done and it looks fantastic!

The living room has new paint, curtains, and trim!                     Kitchen has new paint and a new table!

T-dog never fails to take a photo opportunity!

I am so glad that the painting and trim is done. We are going to paint all the doors white, too...so that is another project that is on the list. It never ends!

2009 is coming to an end in the next few days. I could look back on 2009 and talk about how it was such a great year, but I don't know that it was. There was nothing too exciting that happened this year other than celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary.

2010 is looking to be much more exciting. I can't wait to go into 2010 with a fresh outlook and more to look forward to. We are starting the year out with the party at our house, going to see Mr. S.'s grandparents, and a girls' weekend at my house. That's a good sign already! I am starting my Master's degree, too. My birthday is in February, so that is exciting. Mr. S. and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversary of being a couple in March, which to me is super crazy!!!! There are 3 weddings already scheduled this summer and they are all really close friends to Mr. S. and I. My grade partner is having her baby in June. Mr. S. and I are going to Miami for vacation with our friends! So the beginning of the year is really shaping up!

I can't wait for 2010!

A good meal ought to begin with hunger. - French Proverb

Peanut Butter Cup Pie
This turned out really well! My friends absolutely loved it and then I had some of the leftovers when my father-in-law came into town. He savored each bite and said that he would love to have it again. Now, I am not what you would call a good baker, but thankfully, there is no baking for this!

What Happened During My Christmas

This year was not too eventful. Mr. S. and I went to my mom's house the weekend before Christmas to celebrate with her and my step-family. It went alright...nothing too exciting. We got the money to get the blinds that we wanted for the downstairs, and they look amazing! I will post pics soon!

Christmas day was spent at our house with me, Mr. S., and our roomie. We woke up and opened presents. Mr. S. and roomie were very good to me, too good. I got Clinique Happy perfume (yay!), the Twilight movie, a sweater, some fuzzy socks, a super warm winter coat, and a few smaller things...it went really well. Mr. S. was super excited about his P90X (me, too!) and we are going to start it after the new year! We have a trip to Miami to prepare for!!!

Mr. S.'s dad came down last night and we gave him his Christmas, a digital camera, and he is pretty excited about it. He is going to help us put in our trim today, which I am SO excited about! When that is finished, I will post some photos of the done house....or mostly done. We put shelves up above the TV and then put some shelves in upstairs to display some of Mr. S.'s sports memorbilia. We have been busy bees!

The rest of this day will be spent taking down Christmas decor so it is easier to put up trim, painting the  trim that is going up, and hopefully not cooking...I am so tired of cooking right now!

Christmas, children, is not a date. It is a state of mind. ~Mary Ellen Chase

I was so unmotivated yesterday. Seriously...I think I left my couch just to go to the bathroom, let the dog out, and eat lunch. Now, I did shower yesterday and put on normal clothes, so that has to count for something. I took a lovely 2 hour nap yesterday, which was AMAZING...it has been forever since I have napped that well. No better time for a nap than when it is your vacation.

Today I have some things to get done. I need to pick up some semi-sweet chocolate for the pie that I am making tomorrow; peanut butter cup pie. Mmmmmm. I did add the link for the pie! Enjoy!

Time to shower, head to the store, and get the house cleaned...then Christmas lights tonight. I love to go look at Christmas lights!

Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful. ~Norman Vincent Peale

Good morning! I know that it has been at least a week and a half since I have blogged. Honestly, my life has not been THAT interesting lately. I have just been busily getting ready for the holiday season.

Today is my first day of Christmas break, and I am so excited about this day! We had a half day yesterday and now we are off until January 4th.

Mr. S. and I had Christmas with my mom and step-family on Sunday, and it went really well. We got the funds to put the blinds in our downstairs, so my job today might be to hunt those down. I would really like to put them in today. They are the wood blinds, and I love them!
Faux Wood blinds

Mr. S. and I are going to have Christmas together with our roomie on Christmas day. There will be no traveling this year, and we have not had to travel for the past couple of years on Christmas. I almost like the tradition we have started here at our own house. We open gifts, watch the parade, I make breakfast, and we all sleep. Then I am making dinner that night. The menu includes shrimp scampi with linguini noodles (chicken for my seafood allergic roomie), baked potatoes, steamed broccoli, and bread...yum!

Weekends are a bit like rainbows; they look good from a distance, but disappear when you get up close to them.- John Shirley

I really enjoyed the snow day and it was good to get back to work on Thursday. My students have been absolutely CrAzY this week! You can tell that the weather has changed and that Christmas is just around the corner. Our school had their annual Christmas program Thursday night. It is the hugest thing I have ever seen. People stand because there is no where else to put seats. Preschool, K, 1, and 2 all sing 3 songs that are super cute. Then 3, 4, and 5 do a play. The 3rd and 4th graders are all in the choir and sing the songs and 5th graders are the actors in the Christmas play. It is such a fun thing to do!

Christmas shopping is mostly done. I have my first Christmas on the 20th with my mom, step-dad, and step-sisters...so I have to get done by then. I have a couple more things to get for my mom and then one thing for my step-dad. I really should go out and finish this weekend. That would be the smart thing to do. Online shopping has been wonderful so that I can shop around for deals and not have to go out in the cold and handle all the bags.

My student with cystic fibrosis is back in the hospital. I have been tutoring her now for a couple of weeks. She has double pnemonia right now and because of all the other sick children, she can't leave her room. They don't want her to come down with something else. The dr. said she would be lucky to be out by Christmas, which is also her birthday. I think it is so sad that one of my students has to deal with this. It makes everything else seem so small. She is optimistic and doing well though!

SNOW DAY!

I just a love a good snow day! What I don't like is getting the call when I have been awake for an hour, my make-up is done, and my hair is half dried...but I won't complain, beause I am HOME!

Because I was already up and beginning my day, I started Christmas shopping. I bought for my roomie and  a gift for the husband. Then I made muffins. Mind you, it is 7:42am. Yep, productive. I think that means I don't have to do a thing for the rest of the day, right? It is SOOOO windy outside, I don't want to go out in it. Thankfully, I don't have to. There are gusts up to like 45 mph out there. EEK! I could stand to go and buy some stocking stuffers today since I have the day off. Now I can get some much needed calls made today.

By the way, I got into my Masters program, so I am SUPER excited! I start in January. So one of those calls I have to make today are to my advisor. Neato!

Mr. S. and I are celebrating our 2 year anniversary as an old married couple on Friday. Where does the time go?!

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas."

Good morning, all! It has been a long time since I have updated. I know that I seem to be slacking on this. It just feels like I have very little to talk about right now. Let me begin with Thanksgiving.

We went to my mom's the weekend before Thanksgiving and had lunch with my family. I have to say that I had a wonderful time and it was so good to see some family members that I had not seen in a long time. My great grandma was there, and she just turned 89. She is doing pretty well, and I am glad that I got to see her. It had been too long since I had.

On Thanksgiving day, we went to a friends house for a huge potluck, mismatch of people, wonderful dinner. We had a great time with our friends and Mr. S.'s step-father came down to celebrate with us.

The tree is now up and decorated. I maybe slipped in silver and turquoise ornaments this year. My husband is more of a traditional decoration for Christmas kind of guy. I just wanted to have this tree one time in my life...and I LOVE it. It is gorgeous!

I am still Shredding. Now on Level 3...I took a lot of breaks between exercises, but I hope I am back on track. I am planning on kicking it into high gear between now and summer. Gotta get in shape!

Alright, I need to get ready for work...sigh. Is it Christmas break yet?

"A man who is very busy seldom changes his opinion." Friedrich Nietzsche

I promise I am still here. I just got really busy this week and I have not had time to sit down and post. I guess that it has just been really hectic around here with second quarter midterm, being gone on the weekends, and just feeling rushed.

It is Friday, which I am super excited about! Today is going to be pretty easy at work, so that makes me pretty happy. We are going to see a play, I have a meeting, and then I am coming home to see New Moon tonight! I know that some people are super obsessed with it, but I just like it. It isn't something I have the t-shirts, pencils, backpack, folders, etc. for - I just like the books and I think the movies are fun.

This weekend I hope to relax and not do too much. I just want to hang out with my husband and get some Christmas shopping accomplished. That would be my ultimate plan.

Speaking of being rushed, it is time for me to beautify myself for work now...so have a lovely weekend!

BTW, I am still Shredding. I am on day like 14 or 15. It is kicking my butt, but I feel so much stronger. Mr. S. Shredded with Roomie and I last night. He was sweating like crazy and it was kicking his butt. :)

"The doors we open and close each day decide the lives we live." Flora Whittemore

I realize that lives change, and the older that I get and that my friends get, I guess that I realize that we are getting older. It is amazing to see the updates that my friends post on Facebook because honestly, you can see who has grown up and matured and you can see those that are stuck in the immature world that you left many years ago. That's not to say that I have not wanted to post an update that has to do with something ridiculous...and that's not to say that I haven't done that. It's just that with the consistent posts of those that you know, you can see whose lives are going in which direction...

Tonight the updates that I saw had to do with marriage, babies, taking care of families. Those are good updates to see. I can't believe that so many of my friends are having babies. Those that I went to high school with are having their first or second child, and it just amazing to see everyone grow up. I know that when I see this happening and I report it to Mr. S., he gets a little nervous. Why, you ask. Because I get baby fever easily. All in good time though. We have a plan for our life, and we know when we will be ready to start a family. I just get excited and antsy when I see some of the people I know having babies!

Some of my friends are moving into different jobs, which is super exciting for them. I know that sometimes it is time for people to move on, but the sad thing is that often means people will be moving. I hate to say good-bye to people that I enjoy spending time with.

Shred Update
Roomie and I did Shred level 2 on Sunday for a switch. Wow! That is what I call plank-alicious! There are a ton of planks in that level! Today we went back to level 1 to finish up for the next 2 days. Wednesday we go back to level 2 for 9 days. Awesome! I am feeling much better though and I think there are some results coming, too.

Commit to be fit. ~Author Unknown

Oh, Friday, I don't think I have ever been so glad to see you here. It has been the longest week ever, I think. My grade partner was in the hospital for part of the week due to a reaction from medicine, so I had to be sure to get my room and her room together for the week. The good thing is that I just made double copies of everything I was doing in my room, so that made it a lot easier for me to get things done. It was just a lot of work, but I know that she would do the same for me.

My husband has been late many nights this week due to the extra demands that seem to pop up at his job. They always seem to end up on his shoulders, which is rough. I saw him briefly Thursday morning before I left for work. This week has been so insane for me that the nights he was home at a decent time, I was busy getting my classroom caught up, so I didn't see him much. He is working late again tonight...thankfully I need to clean the house, so I shouldn't be too bored!

Shred: Day 7
I have still been Shredding. I know there were a couple of days that I took off because I was not feeling well, but I am sticking with it as much as I can because it feels so much better each day if you haven't taken a break. My roomie and I are still on level one. We get to switch on Monday to level 2. My legs feel pretty good and so does my back. It is a little painful, but it is good pain.

Where there is no imagination there is no horror. -Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Thank goodness for the time change! The only thing about it that sucks is that the dog does not realize there is a time change, so at 4:00 this morning he wanted to eat. He is used to eating when I get up at 5am...so when 4am hit, he was all about eating. So he barked and groaned...and I laid there listening to it so that he wouldn't get used to me getting up to his barking. Errrr...annoying.

The weekend was good...Friday I went out with my two girlfriends and we had Mexican. It was a much needed margarita night after two days of parties this past week. Saturday we went to our friends' house. We had planned to go to one of the wineries, but it was just too chilly. We ended up going up to the winery, getting a bottle of wine, having one glass there, and then going back to their house to drink them. The breeze was a little cool! Then we had a Halloween party...I wish I had felt better so I could have gotten more photos. I was Little Red Riding Hood. It was a pretty fun party, and I would have enjoyed it more if I had not felt so icky.

Sunday was alright...nothing too exciting. Mr. S. and I went to see Paranormal Activity. It was okay, not as scary as I hoped it would be. I am a pretty big chicken and it didn't freak me out too bad.

Shred Update
I didn't get the chance to Shred Friday and Saturday. I did on Sunday though. I can tell that it is getting easier, which is a good sign. We'll see how tonight goes!

"The past does not define you, the present does." — Jillian Michaels

Halloween party day at school...I am going to need this Girls Night Out once work is done! I do love the costumes the kids wear. They are always fun! It is definitely a camera day...if I remember, because we have seen how good I have been about that.

The dog is going to be the death of me. He wants to bark and be a pain at like 4am...I have another hour, furball, let me sleep. It makes me angry and cranky. For someone trying to drink water, water, water...it makes me wants caffeine, caffeine, caffeine.

****
Shred Update: Day 3

Yesterday my calves ached all day...a good, my muscles are becoming amazing ache. I got home and geared up for Day 3. It went much quicker it seemed, but I was in much more pain. I feel like it is really working though. There are front shoulder raises that maybe feel like my arms are ripping off. Ick. Day 4 today. We'll see how this plays out!

I believe in blood, sweat and tears. - Jillian Michaels

Reading Celebration Day at school! It is going to be another crazy day where my kids are off the wall. Then tomorrow are the Halloween parade and parties. Oh, I can't wait for the week to be over!

It is 5:30am and I have already made muffins today. Either this is a good sign because I am productive already...or a bad sign because I am already awake. Yeah...But they are lemon poppyseed and I am super excited about them!

The Shred: Day 2
I woke up after Day 1 and was not really that sore. A lot of people said that after day 1 they couldn't move. I didn't feel that so much. I had worked out 3 days in a row previous to this though. Then I went to Shred on day 2. Wow, I found the pain I was looking for! My legs were exhausted and I was so tired. Then I woke up this morning and my calves are aching!!! It feels so good though. The pain of working out makes me feel good due to the results I know that will follow.

"Unless You Puke, Faint or Die, Keep Going!" Jillian Michaels

Middle of the week...yay!

I'm trying to teach my students to be nicer to each other. I have set them in teams and they are working together to earn team points. They can't be rude to each other, and they have to learn how to ask someone to do something without being mean about it. This is important seeing as how some of my students have really been using some attitude with each other this year. I hope it works. These kiddos need something to help them out...

Here is my Shred update...

I have begun the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred
Day 1 was last night. Last night I was surprised by how much work that was accomplished in 20 minutes. My roomie and I did this together, which made it more fun. If something hurt too bad, we just thought about our mantra "skinny, skinny, skinny"... Yeah, that's how that went. I was a sweaty, hot mess last night, but it was so good!
This morning the only thing that is really sore are my triceps. They are pretty sore compared to everything else. Ready for day 2!

Consciousness: that annoying time between naps. ~Author Unknown

Monday has come and gone and I am glad that we are now on to Tuesday. Not that Monday was a bad day, it wasn't, it was just a little tiring. Today I woke up a little more tired than yesterday, so that kinda stinks. I'm sure that I will wake up eventually and find some of that energy I have stored back.

I have worked out 3 days in a row since beginning with a good workout on Saturday. I feel really good about this, and I hope to continue it tonight. The soreness from Saturday is beginning to wear off and I can finally bend my legs! Haha! I was hurting yesterday, that's for sure!

Breakfast for dinner last night, yum! Scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, biscuits, and gravy (no gravy for me, thanks). It was yummy!

Okay, I am off to find that surge of energy to get me through today! Have a lovely Tuesday!

"Fitness - if it came in a bottle, everybody would have a great body." ~Cher

Oh, it's Saturday. It's Saturday with frost on the ground. *grumble* I was planning to sleep in this morning, but my dog had other thoughts on that. Then my husband got up and was less than quiet as he was preparing to go play golf with his friend who is staying here. So now, I am awake...the dog, of course, is asleep again. Neat.

I plan to hit the gym here at 10:30...so that makes me happy. I should grab some breakfast.

Has anyone ever done The 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels? I am thinking of purchasing it to begin next week. So, if you have done it, let me know what results you felt like you had from it!

This post is going to be short and sweet. Have a lovely weekend!

"Everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn." ~Elizabeth Lawrence

My cat is overly affectionate lately. Right now she is curled up in my lap with her head in my face, her purr is super loud, and she is rubbing her face in mine. As cute as it is, it is beginning to drive me nuts!

Interesting day yesterday...one of my special ed students that has some serious issues, punched one of my other students in the face. They were fighting who was in the front of the line. Neat, right? The puncher was suspended for the week and the punchee had a serious nosebleed, but he was okay.

As of today, I am fighting an addiction. No, nothing serious. Just trail mix. Haha! I love it and I could really stand to stop and pick some up this morning. Mmmmm...
Any addictions for you right now?

"Tomorrow is often the busiest day of the week." Spanish Proverb

It's Sunday. It's a Sunday that I am spending curled up on the couch with a blanket. The door is open and the dog is basking in the sunlight, football is playing on TV, and I can smell the Leaves candle from Bath and Body Works burning. My husband is out playing football with his friends and I am doing some lesson plans on my computer (okay, taking a brief break to shuffle through my blog!). It's not a bad Sunday. Oh, and I am still in my hoodie and yoga pants. Yep....comfort at it's finest. I still have yet to shower, and I feel way okay with that.

It was a good weekend. We went out to a corn maze to celebrate our roomie's birthday. We went at night, so we took flashlights. So fun! So cold though...brrr...but awesome. It was also SUPER muddy due to the rainstorms from the week. I should have taken photos! *grumble* My camera was definitely in my car though.

This upcoming week is going to kick my butt, so today I need to enjoy the relaxation I am getting to have. Monday and Tuesday are normal. Wednesday I am at work late at a board meeting, Thursday I have parent/teacher conferences from 1-7pm, and a workday from 8-11 on Friday. Blah....

Here's to hoping this week goes quickly and smoothly!

I've been lucky, I'll be lucky again." Bette Davis

I logged on and saw that I won a giveaway! My luck has been amazing lately. I have a great pillow from ShabbyNest sitting on my bench by the front door and now I am winning a wonderful book from Lions, and Tigers, and Boys, Oh My! I will have to tell you about it once I read it and then possibly pass it on when I am done with it. I feel like I need to return the favors of giveaways!

I wish I had had my camera yesterday when I went to the Dollar Tree. I went in to buy my student teacher some things from the Teacher Tree area in the store. I went to the checkout counter and I stood there waiting for the cashier. As always, I perused the little shopping area by the register. There were chapstick, calling cards, pregnancy tests, hand sanitizer....wait! Pregnancy tests?! By the register?! As in, "well, I could use some chapstick...oh! and a pregnancy test." That isn't one of those last minute buys, right? Hmm...interesting.

It appears it will be another drizzly day...I am so tired of the dreary weather. I usually love fall, but it is hard to enjoy it when the weather is already so cold and it is so icky outside. Hopefully there will be some days to enjoy soon.

"If there is no struggle, there is no progress." Fredrick Douglass

The project of the week is painting our kitchen table set black. We have a table and bench and then 2 chairs that don't go with it. Painted black, it all goes together! Yay! I will post pictures after we finish the final coat and sealer. Our friend found this stuff at Home Depot called Gripper (in the paint section). It prevents you from having to sand everything down. You put it down as a primer and then paint over it. It was amazing! I will use it on everything because I HATE sanding. Ick.

This is my student teacher's final week. I will miss having a second set of hands in my classroom, but I am ready to have my classroom back. I miss being in control of what is going on in my room. This Friday I am going to throw her a little going away party though. It'll be fun!

I am currently reading the book series that TrueBlood was created after. The books are really good and I would suggest them to anyone that has been enjoying the Twilight series or any other vampire stories that are out there. The books are similar to Twilight, but more adult oriented. They are by Charlaine Harris. Book one is Dead Until Dark, and there are 10 in the series.

"The best smell in the world is the man you love." Jennifer Aniston

Bath & Body Works has something called a Scent Bug. You push the silver part and it pops out where there is a pad inside. On the pad you put the scented oils and then you push it back in. You click the button and fans begin spreading the wonderful smells throughout the room. It's like a candle warmer without the fire. I know this could be a great thing for homes with small children or people that forget to blow out the flame. It runs on batteries. I love mine!
White SCENTBUG™ Home Fragrance Oil Fan - Slatkin & Co. - Bath & Body Works
It is now coming out in awesome colors! Not shown are red and lime green. Yep, I want these two - definitely.
Okay, that is my plug for the day. Have a gorgeous Wednesday!

"Autumn is a second spring where every leaf is a flower." Albert Camus

Fall is upon us, and I have to say, it makes me uber happy. You know I am serious due to the fact I just used the word "uber". Yep. Anywhoo...I love fall. I love fall because...
  • it smells good (The candles at Bath & Body Works are PERFECT, and my roomie works there so I get a great selection!)
  • cold weather food begins making an appearance (Hello, chili!)
  • Blankets on the couch
  • Fuzzy socks
  • Sweatshirts
  • Football
  • Halloween and fall decorations
  • my drive to work is beautiful!

I know there are more reasons I love fall, but those are definitely the top reasons right there. Now, the negative thing about fall is that winter follows it. Me, I am not a big fan of winter. I like the decorations that accompany the season, but I dislike the cold and snow. Ick. So for today, I will focus on the rain I hear outside, the cinnamon I smell inside, and the warm feeling that fall gives me today.

"Life is one long process of getting tired." Samuel Butler

As I write this, my eyelids are drooping. I am exhausted. Oh, it's 5:41am. Yes, A.M., meaning morning. I feel like I toss and turn at night. I don't understand how I feel this exhausted when I go to bed at a decent time. I am worried because...

...third grade field trip to go ice skating and to a nature center. Ice skating with about 35 kids. Thankfully we have a lot of parents and teachers going, but it does make for a long day. Going to the nature center could be a problem...since there is rain pouring down outside! Part of the nature center will be inside, but I think the trails are out for today. *sad face*

What a week...thank goodness it is Thursday. I need some sleep this weekend!

"In examinations, the foolish ask questions the wise cannot answer." Oscar Wilde

Good morning! It is 6am, and I am just getting up on a Monday. An hour past my normal time. No, I'm not running late this morning. No, I'm not sick, Nope, it isn't a no school day. It is GRE morning. Yep, the day has come where I have to go and take this dreaded test. I studied a little over the past couple days, and I have to day...I'm a little nervous about this. It's pretty difficult. I'll just keep my fingers crossed the whole time!

Yesterday seemed so super busy, but very productive. I was finally able to clean my house (and it needed it!). Then I made a trip to Wal-Mart. I had planned out my meals for the next two weeks, so hopefully that will help my nightly organization. I know that it helped when I went to the store. I then installed a toilet seat -- awesome, right?! And went to dinner at my friend's house. Steak tacos, mmmm.

So, GRE today, finish my master's paperwork, and maybe a nap. I might want one of those. Yep.

"If you want to be happy, be." Leo Tolstoy

Thank you to Shabby Nest for announcing that I won her wonderful giveaway! I didn't even know there was a giveaway, I just commented and got lucky. I can't wait to see this pillow in person and add it to my living room that I am redecorating! It will look wonderful!!!

I will post more in the morning because it appears that my Subway dinner is here!! YUM!

I cook with wine. Sometimes I even add it to the food. ~ W.C. Fields

Again, it's Monday. Weekends really need to slow down. It was a wonderful weekend though. My friends and I took a trip to a winery this weekend and enjoyed some time outside drinking good wine. Then we had some BBQ, played board games, and went to bed early. It was so much fun! I spent yesterday recovering...haha!

I hope this week flies by because hubby and I are going to have an "us" weekend next weekend. With his work being so demanding lately and us being so busy, we have had very little time together. So this upcoming weekend is going to be spent together. I'm pretty excited!

I'm heading to a conference tonight, so I have some sub plans to prep for my student teacher today. Thank goodness I have a student teacher though...it makes my sub plans a little easier!

Time to get ready for work and pack my bags for my conference!

"I don't want to go to school." -Kids across America, daily

Yep, even teachers don't want to always go to school. I would LOVE to sleep in this morning. I am super exhausted today and I feel like I am about to shut my eyes at this moment and go to sleep.
Guess that means I need my Wake-up Diet Soda...*grumble*

Anyone else watch the Biggest Loser? I love that show! Last night I watched and I am definitely moved by the woman who lost her husband and kids in a car accident. What a horrible thing to face in your life. I was a blubbering mess in my living room last night. Then they brought back someone from last season who didn't get a fair chance due to his partner. I love it. What a great motivational show. Now, I know that losing over 10lbs. a week is not realistic. I get that. It is just so motivational to know that these people can overcome such obstacles to become healthy individuals.

Speaking of TV shows, my DVR habit may be out of control. Seriously. I have been going through to make sure I don't miss my shows and I realized, I have a lot of shows. It's okay though. I watch them at this time of the morning so my husband doesn't have to sit through horrible reality shows. Haha! Tonight is So You Think You Can Dance and Glee!!!

DVR is amazing. That is what we all should have learned today.

"He who goes to bed hungry, dreams of pancakes." Proverb quote

It was the morning of pancakes here at my house. I should have gotten photos! I never think to take pictures until AFTER something has passed. *grumble* So, my roomie and I made a ton of panckes, the MS riders thanked us, and headed out the door on Day 2. They seemed in good spirits today and seem to be feeling good this year.

I, on the other hand, will be going back to the dog park with Truman today so he can play with his best friend, Hank the Puggle. Hopefully he can do some more swimming today. Now that he has learned that he can swim, he is all about it. The only downfall is the wet dog I have to pack in my car on the way home. Speaking of which, I will need to clean out my car tonight before I carpool to work tomorrow. Thankfully there is just one other person, so the backseat is just for storing our bags and stuff.

I need to shower a little before I head out. I hope to come back, bathe Truman, and get a few things cleaned up around the house before everyone gets back from the ride. Then it is off to dinner at one of my favorite restaurants. It's tradition to finish the race and go to this same restaurant each year. YAY!

The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up. ~Mark Twain

Pottery Barn makes me extremely happy. If I had a lot of money, I would just buy the rooms they have put together in Pottery Barn. They are so pretty! Everything looks like a little beach cottage. How can you NOT love that?!

Speaking of decorating...I am getting antsy to decorate our house. We still need to put down baseboards. I think we are going to do that in 2 weeks. I think I am getting close to just hiring someone to come and do it for us. My patience on getting the house done is thinning. We also still need carpet on the stairs. They are currently plywood. Awesome, right?

It's time for me to brush my teeth and head off to sleep. I am so tired after waking up early with Truman, working at school for 3 hours, and taking Truman to the dog park.

"You wait for a gem in an endless sea of blah." Lawrence Grossman

It is Friday...and it has been almost a week since I posted. Life has been busy this week! I have a student teacher this year and she didn't come in on Tuesday and instead her mom came in...because her appendix had to be taken out! Wow! So I have been teaching everything again this week. She is supposed to be back on Monday. That would really suck though, to be out because of your appendix. Ick.

I am in the process of getting my Master's application turned in. I have done my online application and I only have a couple more things left. I definitely have to take my GRE by the end of the month...eek!

I am feeling rather boring today...so I think I am done right now.

Without labor nothing prospers. ~Sophocles

This is a three day weekend, in case you didn't know. If it isn't one for you, I'm sorry for rubbing that in your face.

No huge plans for Labor Day. We never really do, I guess. My father-in-law came up last night and stayed the night. I believe he is going home this evening. Right now everyone else in the house is asleep. Of course I am awake due to the yellow dog that we have. He still has not learned to sleep in, and I fear he never will...Currently he is eating a cricket he brought in from the garage. Awesome.

This week at work was a little less than favorable. My kiddos exhaust me, that's for sure. I do have a student teacher, so next week I only teach reading and writing. That's a pretty nice deal. I hope that I teach her something.

Okay, I think I am out of here to find some breakfast and maybe watch a little morning TV...oh, or watch some DVRd stuff...(bad reality shows I DVR so Mr. S. doesn't have to watch it!) Have a lovely labor day weekend!

There aren't enough days in the weekend. ~Rod Schmidt

Is it the weekend yet? Wait, no? It's only Thursday?! *grumble*

It has been a long week and I am ready for the weekend to get here. My students this year are...challenging...yes, challenging. They are just wearing me out on a daily basis. I have been trying different behavior incentives so that it gets better. I have to do something other than fight it every day. The sad thing is that it isn't ALL of them that are like this, but there are just enough to make it hard for me to get important things done during the day. You know, like teaching. *sigh*

It's Thursday and that means today and tomorrow before the weekend. Good stuff.

It's Kitten Mittens!

I love this show! I can't wait until the new season!

Some days you're the bird...

Some days you are the bird, some days you are the statue...but on the days when I feel like the statue, I feel that there are too many birds in the sky. Get what I am saying? I feel like this week has just been one of those weeks.
My class is a challenge this year. I know not every year is a picnic, I get that. There are just days when I mentally throw up my hands and don't know what to do. I have a student teacher, and sometimes I feel like I am not the best person for her to watch because I am just frustrated.
My goal: Become more positive and find what makes these kids tick so that we can survive and become successful together.
Mr. S. and his job are quickly becoming a sore subject for me. He has to be there late so often, I may forget what he looks like. Some weeks are okay and he is out of there at a decent time, but then weeks like this week I never see him. He was home late Tuesday, Wednesday, and I have yet to see him tonight. Then he is gone late for work tomorrow night. Last night he was home at 9pm. Tonight, he said that if it is 10pm, he will leave...so...yeah...Oh, and I hate that I don't have the option of staying late at my job to get things done sometimes.
My goal: Try not to get mad at him and just be supportive because it isn't like he likes being there late.

Working out...I achieved my goal of becoming Body Jam certified. I got my email saying I passed. I was excited at the time, but now I wonder why I spent the money on it. By the time I get home, I am the only one who has been here and I have to take care of the dog who has been crated during the day. I can't exactly go to the gym to teach or work out. I want to lose some weight. Badly. Sometimes I get tired of working out at home. It isn't the same...
My goal: Make some sort of a schedule that works for me that I can stick to.
Sorry about the bitching. No, I'm not sorry. This is my blog where I can do that. I want to cry. I want to scream. I want to go to bed. I'm exhausted, I'm tired of cleaning the house on my own, I'm tired of my house being partially done, I'm tired. I need a break. I need help. I need a moment to myself. I need some wine.
Thanks for lending your ear...or your eyes.

...why is my dishwasher making that sound??

The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows. ~Sydney J. Harris

I am such a slacker, I apologize. Today is the 7th day of school and I am exhausted already. Awesome. I am not sure how to describe this year yet. I mean, the kids are a difficult bunch when it comes to discipline. They are not all about following directions, so that is what we are really working on still. What I do like are their personalities....well, most of them, I guess. The majority of them are very creative and are very different. I have a couple that really just stick out and I am very impressed with this year...so hopefully that continues.
I will definitely have some stories this year. That's how interesting some of my kiddos are. I can tell you that I have already heard a story about smoking balls...a kid telling me about the Pink Panther movie. Yep...maybe shouldn't tell your teacher a story about smoking balls. I'm just sayin'. Because it definitely isn't a sports ball he was talking about...

I have yet to take a photo of the classroom. I will do that this morning. My camera has definitely been in my bag, but I have not taken photos.
Life at the home has been crazy lately. A lot of family craziness...blah. I don't have the time or energy to write about it right now.

I have got to get ready for work! I just glanced at the time...ah! More later!

Sleep is a symptom of caffeine deprivation. ~Author Unknown

Sorry I have not updated...I am exhausted from the first day of school...and the second day of school...yep, school year exhaustion, rough times.

I will hopefully update tomorrow or Friday about my first week of school along with my photos. My camera is busy charging and I keep forgetting it at home. Way to be, right? So, expect an update in a day or 2.

Time to go play with the poor dog who probably feels abandoned...then Mexican food! YUM!

"Work is either fun or drudgery. It depends on your attitude. I like fun." Colleen Barrett

Back to my early morning posts now that I am up early again. More meetings and working in my room today. We have open house tomorrow night, wow! Monday we are off and don't have to be there and the kids start Tuesday. I think that in the past 3 years, I have had to be there to get stuff done on that Monday...this Monday, nope, I will not have to be there!

Since my husband is wonderful, he got me a gift card to a one hour massage at the end of the last school year, so I am going to get that on Monday! I am really pumped!!! Exactly what I need to start a new year.

I will definitely remember my camera today to take photos!

"Do whatever you do intensely." Robert Henri

Have you ever felt totally over something? Like where you get to the point that you don't want to have to explain yourself to people...? I'm not saying that I don't feel like people deserve explanations, but right now, I don't feel like I am in the wrong. *sigh*

On a brighter note, my classroom is almost put together and finished! I have a couple of finishing touches to do, but I am almost there. I will take some photos tomorrow when I go in and post them. It looks pretty good this year!

I also have a student teacher this year...wow! I am going into year 4 and I already have one, which seems crazy that it is my turn to teach someone how to teach. Weird and overwhelming all at the same time! I think I get to meet her tomorrow, too, which is exciting. She seems really sweet from her emails and there are a lot of teachers in her family from what I understand.

Time to get some dinner on the table. Lasagna night! Mmmmm!

Think before you ink! ~Author Unknown

This is the girls and I with our matching 'art' (I am the foot)

This is mine that night after we cleaned them...I really should have painted my toenails. EEK!So yes, this is the design that my wonderful friend sketched up after we discussed what we wanted. We each stand for a different color...mine is the turquoise. I love it! I have another tattoo on my back and I think that this one on my foot is the best decision. I really like the reminder of my girls...they are the best.

Anywho...spent another 6 frustrated hours on my school website. We have to use Dreamweaver on the Mac. See my pain? Those of you with Macs that have to use Dreamweaver do. I am beyond frustrated. Thankfully we have tomorrow off from it before we work again Friday. Finishing my classroom and some lesson planning are in order for tomorrow. Wee!

There are three good reasons to be a teacher - June, July, and August. ~Author Unknown

It has been awhile, but I have not felt much like blogging. Not sure why...maybe the fact that life is just kinda boring right now. Nothing much is going on, but in the next few weeks I am sure that it will pick up. School is right around the corner....really, in the next couple of weeks we will start school. I have been working in my room this week. I'll post some pics when I have it more organized. Jungle themes are super fun!!

Girls weekend was this past weekend and it was a BLAST! The first night was just pizza and girl talk. Second day was just hanging out and tattoos...yes, tattoos. We each got the same thing (a design that one of the girls drew with all of our input) in different places. Again, I will post more later on that. Then we went and had a great time at a wonderful bar. We had a WONDERFUL weekend!!

Alright, I am going to leave this post where it is until next time...when I have more pics!

"Smiling is my favorite." Buddy from "Elf"

I am so excited!! I won the Target gift card giveaway over at My Life with Boys! Thank you so much! Now I can put it towards decorating my house!! YAY!! This is the first giveaway I have won, so I am super excited!

I return to school next week for some training and to put my room together. We aren't contracted until the 12th, but there is no time to put your room all the way together in a matter of days with all of the meetings we have to go to. Fun stuff.

Also, at our school the teachers do the school supply shopping for all the kiddos. All they have to bring are backpacks and lunchboxes. We get the folders, pencils, markers, Kleenex, etc. They pay a supply fee each year so that we can go and get their stuff. Now, this seems like a wonderful idea to parents...and really it is nice because then all of the kids have the same thing...but, people literally think you work at Wal-Mart while you are shopping. Every year there is someone that asks my grade-partner and I where to locate something because our baskets look like we are stocking items. Awesome, really.

I still have about 800 things to get done here at home...not sure when all that is going to happen. My mom is supposed to come up this week for a visit and then my girls from college are coming to stay this weekend!!! This might be what I am living for this week. Yes, it is. These girls are my bestestestestest friends EVER! They are a blast, so I can't wait! We always have a great time and it is a great way to kind of "close-out" my summer.

Alright, I need to begin my week of cleaning. Otherwise known as, "the last time I will clean this year because I go back to work in a couple of weeks". Haha!

The summer night is like a perfection of thought. ~Wallace Stevens

My air conditioner has died. A moment of silence...........okay, seriously, I am glad that it is unseasonably cool right now, but I am unhappy about this broken A/C. I hope to goodness the people coming for the bid in about 15 minutes tell me that it is just a simple motor problem and we just need a new one. That would be amazing...but something tells me it won't be that easy. Grrrr....*fingers crossed*

This weekend should be fun...Relay for Life on Friday night, Saturday night is free comedy club, and Sunday is date day with my husband. We were going to have date night on Saturday night, but my friends got free passes to comedy and I can't pass up the hilarious comedy of Rob Little. He is too funny!
Rob Little
So, yes, busy weekend. Then I realized that I have one more week of freedom-ish. I really need to go in my classroom and do some work next week. Then I have training the week after and the next week we are contracted back at work. Holy crap...where did summer go?
I hope to post more pics of the house soon. I really wanted to get my furniture painted and put back in before I posted more pics, but the A/C has put a little hold on other house projects right now. *grumble*

"If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there." Lewis Carroll

I am going to do a 2 part post here...actually, I am going to post quickly and then run downstairs, snap some photos of my ALMOST completed floors, and then put them on here. YAY!!!
Okay, here they are! He has a few more strips to put in the hall and he is done! Then I have a lot of cleaning and reorganizing to do.
Mr. S. is going to need a vacation after his vacation. I feel bad that all he did was work on his vacation, but the floors look wonderful. Although he dripped sweat, cursed, and pondered over the floors more than he wanted to, he did a great job. I am pretty proud of him! I thought there were some moments he was going to kill me for wanting to put these floors down, but I think he got over it. Haha!

I bought and put together a new entertainment center this weekend. I also went to Pier 1 to look for some decorating items. I found 'em, too. I loved almost everything I saw, although my pocketbook did NOT. I can't afford a lot of items that are higher priced. I can afford a lot of lower priced items though...I hate decorating due to the money restraint, but I love it because it is fun. I just need some more money.

Alright, I am going to post this and run to get some photos. I shall post them soon!!!

Check out my wonderful blogworld friend, My Life with Boys...she is giving away a $20 gift card to Target!!

"Beauty is everlasting And dust is for a time." Marianne Moore

My house is covered in dust. And by covered, I mean COVERED. We are removing the tile from the kitchen. Maybe I should rephrase that...Mr. S. is removing the tile from the kitchen. Removing ceramic tile is the messiest, dirtiest thing that I have ever seen. I am having a meltdown because my house is a dusty mess. I can't deal with it. Today he is sanding the grout off the floor...tonight I might try to mop up the mess...and tomorrow I am hoping to lay the new floors! I just bought the new floors today, too!!!! WOO!

I will post pics of the mess. I took pics yesterday and I will today, too. The camera is down in the dusty living room. I am upstairs where there is less dust. I'm sure I need to go down and sweep something. That's been my job...clean-up crew.

Oh, and it's hot...and the AC is off because we opened the windows for dust. Awesome, right? Yes, the thermostat in the house says it is 78 in here. Way too hot for my liking. I did get a Vanilla Diet Dr. Pepper from Sonic, so life is a little better. Though there is a cup over the lid as to avoid dust in it. I know you all are jealous, right?! Haha!

Off to see what I can clean!

There's nothing to match curling up with a good book when there's a repair job to be done around the house. ~Joe Ryan

Remember when I said I had painted 4 stripes on my wall? Welp, these are it. I can't remember all the names of the colors, but they are the 4 I thought I might like. I went with the third stripe. This is the "after" of Faint Maple. I like it. As you can see, I am still in the middle of "Project Living Room". It's a mess right now...or a work in progress as I should call it. I need curtains, pillows, oh! and a floor. That should be in next week.
Now I still have a wall to complete because I am waiting for putty to dry and for Mr. S. to finish sanding it down so I can paint. This is the yellow wall left in my living room right now.
So that is the living room for now. Still a ways to go, but I am okay with it because I have a few more weeks off from work and need something to do to fill my time.
We are leaving tomorrow for our float trip, which I am SUPER excited about! I can't wait to have a weekend away.
Enjoy your weekend!

"A vacation is having nothing to do and all day to do it in." Robert Orben

In 2 days we are leaving for our float trip! Woo! My husband is on his way home and his vacation will officially begin for the next week and a half...double Woo! So...things are good!

My living room is mostly repainted. I had to let some putty dry on one wall before I can paint it, so hopefully tomorrow I will get to do that. I took curtains back to JCPenney because they hung oddly. No good. It has been productive.

The Body Jam launch of the new tracks is in the morning, so I am super excited about that. I get to teach the first 3 tracks, so that isn't nearly as nerve wracking as it could be. I am pretty excited to be launching in the morning so I don't have to think about it ALL day! Haha!

I will try to post pics tomorrow of the new color in the living room...pretty exciting!

"The summer night is like a perfection of thought." Wallace Stevens

I am officially in summer right now. Yes, summer school is over and I am at home. Now, I have a list a mile long of things that I need to do, but you know what the funny thing is? They all take money. I don't want to spend money everyday on new projects, but I know that it is necessary. Yesterday I pulled up all the baseboards and door trim downstairs. Yeah, that's right...me doing demo. Mr. S. was pretty impressed. Haha!

Trying to pick out paint colors for downstairs. Let's just say I struck out on the first 2 samples I brought home. I am off to Lowe's this afternoon for one more go of it. If I don't find something then we are using the same color that is upstairs in our office/guest room because I love it!

Oh, I have to pass on this wonderful dinner that I cooked this week. It was so good that the husband asked for it again the next night! WOW!

Turkey Pesto Panini
Pesto Recipe
A couple handfuls of fresh basil
2 cloves of garlic
1/2 c. walnuts (or pine nuts)
2/3 c. olive oil
I mix it all in my food processor (I love that thing!).
Panini
French bread (I bought some awesome panini bread in the bakery from Wal-Mart)
Turkey
Pesto
Mozzarella Cheese
Butter the outsides of both pieces of bread. Put the first piece in a pan on medium heat, spread pesto, place cheese, place turkey, cheese, top of bread. Cover with lid and let sit for about 2-3 min. Flip and repeat. Serve. YUM!
ENJOY! I am off to the gym!

Housework is something you do that nobody notices until you don't do it. ~Author Unknown

It is Wednesday afternoon, which means there are 2...count them...2 days left of summer school! YESSSSSSSS! I swear, I am worse than the kids!

My conference was awesome and I had so much fun! I took away a lot of great ideas and insight for next year.

My wrist is currently feeling better, which is a great thing. I can type with no pain. YAY!

Right before I left for my conference we ripped up the carpet in the living room and then Mr. S. ripped it up off the stairs and finished the switchout of the outlets and switchplates - silver in the kitchen and white in the living room. This is currently what the floor of my stairs, living room (plus Truman), and my hallway look like...

Awesome, right? So we are living on wood/cement floors for the next couple of weeks until Mr. S. is on vacation. I am also painting the yellow walls because honestly, I don't like them. At all. They have been like that for a year and I can't stand them. I thought I might "adjust". Guess what? I didn't!
Alright, I'm sure I have something I need to be doing so I am going to go and do that...good day!

Summer has set in with its usual severity. ~Samuel Taylor Coleridge

I am heading off to a conference for a couple of days. Ah, the joys of being a teacher. I am pretty psyched because it is with 3 other teachers that are an absolute blast! On the bright side, I am missing 2 days of summer school...and we are in the last week. Yep. So when I get back I work for 3 days and I am DONE!

Yesterday we ripped up the carpet in our house...so we have cement floors right now, which is fine with me. This coming weekend we are tearing out the tile... by "we" I mean Mr. S. I will be painting all of our baseboards white. Fun fun! We are just that much closer to being done with our living room transformation!

It is so hot here...it is 5:30am and the temperature on the news says it is 79 degrees with a heat index of 85. At 5:30am. How miserable, right? If I don't come back to my blog, it's because I melted...send help. Haha....

Have a lovely couple of days!

"If you saw a heat wave, would you wave back?" Stephen Wright

Friday...oh, the sweet sound of Friday. I have been waiting for it all week. Trust me, I have.

This week has been a busy one. I had my MRI where they confirmed tendonitis. I got a corisone shot in my wrist and I am waiting for the pain of it to stop so that I can see if things are better. I am hoping they are because the dr. said that if the tendon pain has not stopped in 2-3 weeks, that I will need to come back in and discuss other options. "Other options" is a term for "surgery". Yeah, not gonna happen. Bleh.

One more week of summer school to survive! Awesome thing about this is that I am gone Monday and Tuesday to a conference!!! YAY! It's amazing...so I am only there for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of our last week. Super fantastic!

I am exhausted...the heat has been killer. Take that back, the HUMIDITY has been killer. Holy cow! We took our students swimming to an indoor facility for their field trip today (always good in case it rains) and I thought that I was going to sweat to death or suffocate. Either way, no good. Just sayin'.

I am ready for the weekend and then an awesome conference with three teachers I love to hang out with! What a good time!

"It's how you deal with failure that determines how you achieve success." David Feherty

So I did my video Wednesday night for Body Jam. Bad. I maybe had a small meltdown during the salsa block and thought I was done forever. Seriously. It was ridiculous.

Then I went back in this morning with a clear head. I made it happen and it was such a fun class! Sure, there are some mess-ups here and there. How is there not going to be in a 55 minute class that is completely memorized by the instructor?! And I am nervous to be recording?! Yes, it is done. And due tomorrow, I might add. So I am sending it in a day late (overnight, too). I am just glad to be done so I can move on with everything.

My father-in-law stayed this weekend. Since I was so involved with Body Jam, I feel like I wasn't the best daughter-in-law this weekend, but it was fun. I hope that he enjoyed being here. He did fix the electrical mess that my husband had downstairs. My hall light works now! Woo!

2 weeks of summer school left! Then house projects...I can't wait!

"There is no defeat except for those who give up." Joseph B. Wirthlin

Body Jam taping last night...*grumbly face* Yeah, it didn't go well enough I could send it in. So now here I am, due date is Monday, and I have only a few days to get it done. We'll see what I can pull out of the air...

Summer school is almost done...tomorrow will be the halfway point. That means it is all downhill from there. WOO! And we are going fishing for our field trip tomorrow. To say that I am excited, might not be the right word. Haha....maybe more like not excited. Yep, that'd be the right word.

Today is wrist doctor today. *sigh* Can't wait to see if they find something to take care of this thing.

It rained a lot last night. I would love, love, love to work in my yard this weekend and finally get it done. Hopefully the rain will chill out so that I can get out there and get stuff done. I would love to remove the rest of the rocks and get my flowers planted so I can enjoy them for awhile this summer. Any ideas on gorgeous flowers that would stay blooming in full sunshine for awhile? Let me know!

Tuesday, June 9, 2009

"If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.

Is it my real summer break yet? The one where I don't have to get up at 5am and get ready for work...or otherwise known as getting up and falling asleep on the couch for about 45 more minutes while the dog eats, THEN rush and get ready for work. Haha...

I have never been so antsy to be done with summer school. I think it has to do with wanting to get some stuff done around the house. I have a lot I want to do, but I can't do it when I'm not here. It'd be nice if I could though!

I am doing my Body Jam taping tomorrow night. I have to get it done by the 15th (yes, of this month) so that I can get it sent it. I have to send it to their office and they get to judge me, then tell me if I pass so that I can finally become an instructor. I have honestly had about 3 months to get this done in. I am not usually this horrible about procrastinating, but here I am. I know that the reason I didn't do it from March on to May is because with the end of the school year, it was CRAZY! I could have gotten it done in the week and a half that I was off though, but did I? Nope. Grrrr...I can't wait to be done with all the formalities.

Relay for Life walk is this weekend. This will be my first one and then I have another next week. Should be fun!

Going to the doctor so they can check on my painful wrist this week. I am so glad to go and see an orthopedic dr. I hope they can make the pain stop. It sucks.

Thursday, June 4, 2009

A friend is one who knows us, but loves us anyway.

Thursday. Thank goodness. One week of summer school down (almost) and 3 more to go. Every Friday is a field trip, so this makes life a little easier on me! Woo!

Spur of the moment dinner with my girlfriends tonight means that I am super excited! I can't wait to go to Olive Garden. Mmmmm!

Truman digging even further into his hole in the backyard means I was ANGRY this morning. I swear that dog is going to live on a farm soon. Grrr. Mr. S. has the job of taking him to the dog park tonight to wear him out. Seriously, before I ship him off. (I secretly love the dog, but he drives me nuts. Shhhh.)

I bought a new purse and wallet. Life is good again. I can now fit my sunglasses in my purse and my wallet is no longer crumbling to bits. Whew.

*yawn* I could use a nap.

"A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken." James Dent

Summer school has officially begun. Ugh. Yes, we started yesterday. There are now 19 days left of summer school (no, I am not counting the weekends). Then minus 4 days for Friday field trips because those are pretty easy...that is 15. Then I am gone 2 days for a conference...down to 13. Okay, not too bad. Goodness. I have a pretty good group though.

It has been a long week and it is only Tuesday. My dog is being a world class pain in the butt. He doesn't understand "shut up and go back to sleep". Most dogs probably don't, but at 3:00am I would *like* for him to!

My mom has been having some serious problems with her arthritis. She said she woke up the other morning hardly able to walk and write. She has it in her feet, neck, hands...and now in her lower back and knees. They are running some tests to rule out another type of disease so I should know more about that later. Just keep her in your prayers please. Thanks a lot in advance.

Alright, I need to get ready for the day. Have a wonderful Tuesday!

"While one person hesitates because he feels inferior, another is busy making mistakes and becoming superior."

Welp. it is officially not the weekend now. Know how I can tell? Mr. S. had to go back to work and I have about 50 things to do to catch up from my weekend. Actually, this weekend was quite progressive, but I still feel like there are some things to get done. Aren't there always?

"Could we just skip the weight part of this?" was the question I wanted to ask my lady doctor's nurse. I didn't though. Why can't they say this one time, just for fun? It might make someone's day.

"How much is a new A/C unit going to cost?" is the question I wanted to ask the A/C guy again when he came out to repair the one we have. I thought he was kidding. Guess what, he wasn't.

I do have a dr. appointment for my face...going to have some skin stuff checked out. I have another dr. appointment for my wrist scheduled...I can't wait. My wrist is killing me. I can't put weight on it very well, typing is super painful, moving it is rough...ouch.

Well....I need to fold those whites that have been in the dryer since yesterday. I hate folding socks.

Wine improves with age. The older I get, the better I like it. ~ Anonymous

Good afternoon! I hope everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day. Mr. S. and I have had such a great weekend!

What I loved about this weekend...
  • The view at the wineries.
  • The super cute dress I bought to wear to the wineries.
  • Bowling after a few too many margaritas! (and doing horribly, I might add!)

  • Having an amazing time with my friends.

  • The dog being away for the weekend so I could enjoy some quiet time.

  • Mr. S. and I having some time to ourselves.

  • Cleaning our house (I love a fresh smelling house!)

Yes, it was a good weekend. Mr. S. is taking tomorrow off of work so that we can hang out some more. It has been so good to just spend time with him this weekend. I didn't realize how much I missed just having fun with him. I am not going to let that escape us again. No good.

Have a lovely rest of the Memorial Day!
